An invite link says it's expired or invalid

Invite links expire on purpose, and half-pasted links look invalid. Both have a thirty-second fix: send a fresh one.

Try this first

  1. Ask whether they copied the whole link. Links that get split across two lines in an email or text are the most common "invalid" invite — have them tap the link directly instead of retyping it.
  2. If the link really has expired, reissue it from the archive's people and invites area. Making a fresh link takes seconds.
  3. Send the new link by whatever channel actually reaches them, and confirm it arrived.

What's going on

Invite links expire by design, and you can revoke one at any time. That's a safety feature, not an inconvenience: an invite link is a key to contribute to your family's archive, and keys that float around in old email threads forever are keys you can't account for. An expired link costs your relative thirty seconds; a permanent one could cost you control over who's in the archive.

Reissuing an invite doesn't undo anything — memories already contributed stay put, and the person just uses the new link to come back in.

If that didn't work

If a freshly issued link still won't open for someone, write to [email protected] and tell us who it was for — we'll figure out what's in the way.

Still stuck? [email protected] — a person reads every message.
