Offer DearestEllie from your own site.
For hospices, funeral homes, libraries, senior communities, and faith organizations that walk with families and want to hand them something free and lasting. Everything on this page is yours to use: a card for your website, words for your newsletter, and the promises that come with our name.
The referral card
A small, quiet card for your website — plain HTML with no scripts, no tracking pixels, and nothing that loads from our servers. It looks like this:
<!-- DearestEllie referral card -->
<a href="https://www.dearestellie.org/?ref=YOURCODE"
style="display:block; max-width:360px; padding:18px 20px;
background:#fdfbf5; border:1px solid #d9d2c3; border-radius:12px;
font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;

margin-bottom:6px;">Preserve their story</span>
<span style="display:block; font-size:14px; line-height:1.55;
color:#51493e;">Free family memory archives —
stories, photos, and voices, kept safe. Offered with
DearestEllie.</span>
<span style="display:block; font-size:13px; margin-top:10px;
color:#7c614b;">www.dearestellie.org →</span>
</a>How to use it
- Copy the snippet above and paste it into any page of your website — a resources page, a "for families" page, a footer. It's ordinary HTML; anyone who edits your site can place it, and it works in nearly every website builder.
- Replace
YOURCODEwith the referral code from your organization dashboard. Don't have one yet? Write to [email protected] and we'll set your organization up — it's free, like everything else here. - That's all. The code just tells us a family came through you, so we can tell you your care mattered. It doesn't track the family, and it never changes what they get: everything on DearestEllie is free for them either way.
Feel free to restyle the card to match your site — change the colors, the font, the size. The words and the link are the only parts that matter.
Words you may reuse, verbatim
For your website, newsletter, or printed materials. Use them word-for-word, trim them, or make them sound like you — all fine.
DearestEllie is a free home for family memories — stories, photos, and voices, kept private by default and preserved in an open format. Families use it to save a life's stories while they can. Free means free, always.
DearestEllie is a free home for family memories — the stories, photos, and recorded voices of the people we love. It is an independent service, kept free for families by supporters and sponsors: remembrance is never behind a paywall, everything is private by default and shared only by the family's choice, and everything can be exported in an open, documented format that will outlast any company. Families use it to record a parent's voice, caption the shoebox photos, and keep a life's stories where they can't be lost.
The promise that travels with our name
When you offer DearestEllie, families hear a promise from both of us. Keeping it simple keeps it honest.
You may say, freely
- That DearestEllie is free for families — because it is, always.
- That it's an independent service kept free by supporters and sponsors, that archives are private by default, and that families can export everything in an open format at any time.
- That your organization offers it, recommends it, or provides it as part of your care for families.
- Anything on this page, word for word.
Please never
- Imply that DearestEllie charges families for remembrance — it never does, and no plan or quota can take a family's memories from them.
- Put DearestEllie behind your own paywall, or fold it into a paid package in a way that makes the archive look like something families are buying.
- Suggest that your organization can see, access, or manage a family's private archive — you can't, and neither can we sell or share it.
- Use our name to endorse other products or services — the promise covers DearestEllie, and only DearestEllie.
If a family ever pays your organization for services that include helping with an archive — recording sessions, scanning, facilitation — that's honest work and it's yours. The line is simple: the archive itself is free, and families should always know it.
