What happens to the archive when I die?
The honest answer today: the archive survives its founder if it has more than one steward. Add a co-steward now — a spouse, a sibling, an adult child — as an owner or admin alongside you. An archive with two stewards doesn't have a single point of failure; when one is gone, the other can keep it, grow it, and eventually pass it on. This takes five minutes and is the single most important thing you can do for the archive's long life.
Formal steward-succession features — naming an heir for the archive, a documented handover process — are on our public roadmap, and we won't pretend they exist before they do. In the meantime, the co-steward approach works, and a full export (free, anytime, in an open format) means your family can also hold a complete copy entirely outside our hands.
